Merck Manual Professional App Reviews

Merck is a terrific resource guide to have in your pocket for a quick refresher on the most common medical conditions. Not only are sections clearly laid out, but all essential info are condensed into user friendly tabs. This is essentially a quick and dirty but much easier to follow alternative to up to date. Such a wonderful and surprisingly free resource should not be missed! Be patient and leave the app on the first time around for it to fully download (takes about 20-30min... It looks stuck but its really not).

The update to version 2 broke this application, since it attempts to download some additional resources and gets stuck at roughly 85% every single time, on both iPad Air and iPhone 6 Plus. Deleting the app, followed by a fresh install, didnt help either. I am prepared to revise my rating if this issue is addressed by the developer. I have upgraded my review rating, after doing as reviewer #6 suggested, and leaving for an extended period to allow the download to complete. I am rating it as four stars, and removed one star due to the lengthy download, and the lack of a note alerting potential purchasers that this is to be expected.

Extremely comprehensive considered to be the bible of the medical field. Be patient in downloading this app; it will appear to get stuck at 85-90% for a few minutes, but its actually installing the file. Id suggest you leave it in the foreground to ensure an uninterrupted installation.

Amazing app. It has all the contents of Merck without the need for internet connection. The user interface is pretty great as well. A huge thanks to the developers and Merck Manual team for providing this great app for free.

This app WAS a 5 star. I really miss the alphabetized list I could just quickly jump to what i wanted. Sifting down through long menus is ridiculous, especially as not everything fits it a simple specific category. The search is about the only way to find something quickly now, however, sometimes its hard to remember the exact spelling of those rare exotically named conditions. This really should have been evaluated by healthcare professionals before messing up a once great and useful app. I would no longer recommend anyone spend money on this app.

The added download of the new update goes to 90% and then stops. Needs a fix!

Need to change text size. Too small in my i6 plus. Other than that, great videos section!!!

This used to be super useful but the latest update killed it. It just keeps trying to download content but it cant.

After the latest update, the app crashes while trying to perform the initial content download. It gets you approx 80% and crashes. Lone the product but they have got to fix this

Updated to the last eat version and now the app crashes at every attempt to open.

The latest optimization makes all this valuable information look wonderful. Most of the info can be checked without internet connection. Easy navigation, very well organized subjects and a search option to precisely find what you are looking for. Definitely worth having it for reliable reference.

The previous version was fine. This version downloads its content on first launch. And I had a very difficult time getting it to complete. It took 11 attempts before it finally completed. That said the new version is very nice if you can get the content to download.

Best medical app in the store, just got better! As a doctor, this is the only app I ever need. Thank you!

6/16/16 update: made the mistake of "updating" this is more like backdating. Also of note is that it is now distributed by merck co. and not the original developers. I dont know if thats a good thing as they distibute the content for free, no real incentive for them to do it well, and it appears all of the content is now free and will not be developed in a manner that is consitent with the original $30 pricetag. Honestly just looks like a webview app tbh. Downloads 90% in 5mins then 5mins for the last 10%, guessing it downloads all related pictures//video content (hopefully?) The only thing this app is missing to make it perfect until apple completely overhauls the operating system again would be: 1. Type-ahead/predictive search 2. iCloud syncing of history/favorites 5/6/14 update: everything in the app appears to have been updated to iOS 7 looks except the bottom bar in the iPad version (bar with favorites, share and index quick links). Great job, havent seen a walking dead marathon since I wrote this review, but thought it serendipitous that the developers updated on the day I finished fundamentals of nursing. This app was valuable for writing up pathology cards for clinicals this semester. I imagine ill be referencing it some during pharmacology this summer as well. Keep up the great work Old review: Was inspired to write this review because of a hilarious convo I had with the developer. It boils down to me requesting "type-ahead." Reason: I was watching a walking dead marathon on amc and was having trouble spelling hemorrhagic fever (eating pizza at the time). And was checking the etiology of it to see if Swine Flu produces hemorrhagic episodes from either the the mouth or eyes (or any other orifices for that matter). Needless to say, this app is great for fact checking the show

Ive got an idea! Lets replace a perfectly good descriptive icon with a generic three slashes! I have no idea what the app is now. Oh, and rather than provide the actual data, make the user have to be online to get the download. Oh, and have the download stop at 90% and hang.

I loved this app now its just saying downloading but it isnt doing anything

Update went through, but the 1 icon on the top right corner of the app will not disappear. Frustrated that it will not disappear after multiple attempts of deleting and reloading the app.

App cant download content, plz fix I used this app daily.

I wanna use this app but it tolds me that contents must be downloaded using wifi only. The thing is that I have an Unlimited 4G data plan. So please, let me download the contents using 4G too. Thank you.
